What
is
bespoke?
bespoke?
It is the supreme luxury in shoemaking. There is nothing above it. One customer, one design, one pair of shoes. The ultimate shoe is bespoke, made only for you.
Bespoke is the highest way possible in shoemaking and is defined by an absolute freedom of choice. The shape, the techniques, the style of the shoe, materials used, colours or textures, everything can be selected to ensure the most comfortable and beautiful pair of shoes possible for that specific client .
A bespoke process is the only way to achieve perfection of fit and elegance in the same time. It can often take from first concept to delivery around 6 months.

Measurements taking.
In this first meeting every detail about the desired shoes is discussed and agreed upon. Then the exact measurements of the client feet are taken by me . This is a crucial aspect of the process and is taken very seriously. The difference between a perfect fit and poor fitting shoe is often only 2mm. The purpose of the measurements is to provide comprehensive accurate data for last making .
The trial shoes.
After the last has been constructed according to the particularities of the client’s feet, it is a good idea to construct a pair of trial shoes, to be sure that the fit is as close to perfect as possible. The main purpose of this second meeting is for the client to wear and test the trial shoes. Pencils marks are drawn over any problematic spots and then the uppers of the trial shoes are cut out in order to observe possible mismatches. For example, in the heel area or where the little toe is.
Delivery of the finished shoes.
After many months of hard work the final shoes are ready to be delivered. No matter how experienced a shoemaker can be this moment is always full of excitement and emotions. It is highly recommended that this final meeting to take place in my workshop in order adjust any minor final fitting issues. I will check many things with this occasion: the clip on the heel, lace allowance, the overall position of the foot inside the shoe and so on. After the final inspection, the shoes are ready to face public scrutiny and the envy of all those viewing them. The shoes owner and the shoes can now bravely face the world with pride. Buying a pair of shoes should not be a compromise between one’s expectation and a limited offer. Instead of blindly obeying the predetermined templates of the retail shoe industry I can offer you not only a beautiful, well fitted pair of shoes but an intellectual and an emotional experience.
